Trust God - Still Believing - Still Going Forward!!!

April 11, 2013

When I was a little girl -- we would always get together with my cousins and aunts and uncles and Grandparents and celebrate everything!!! It was always fun to get together. Grampa and Gramma lived about 2 1/2 hours away.

This one particular time we were all there together, it was on a Saturday. It was starting to get late, so we packed up to leave. We had to get home so Dad could preach in the morning. We said all our good-byes with lots of hugs and kisses. And we piled in our station wagon.

Ahhhhh!!! The good ol' station wagon!!! Well, with 6 kids, we would take turns sitting in the way back. Our station wagon didn't have that extra cool seat that folded up. It was just a whole open area -- and it was my turn to have the whole back area!!! (Again, seatbelts were invented, but you didn't have to wear them!!! Har!!! Good thing -- they did not make a vehicle with enough seatbelts for our family anyways!!!) :)

We all piled in the car and headed home. It's late. It's dark. Dad didn't mind. He liked to drive.

But then, we came across something. Fog. Horrible fog. Dense fog. It was so heavy -- you could not see the end of the hood on the car. It was frightening. From the front I heard my dad tell my mom we would keep driving home.

I looked out my window and saw nothing but a thick cloud of fog. I tried to look out the front window--nothing but fog. I looked out the back window -- fog. You couldn't even see any other headlights. It. Was. Terrifying.

I knew that Dad knew the way home -- but he couldn't see the way home.

I curled up in a ball and started to cry and pray. I just kept praying that Jesus would help us get home. And I fell asleep!!! His peace surrounded me and I fell asleep. As I fell asleep, it was like God completely reassured me that we would get home safely. Peace. And then He gave me this picture in my mind: I could picture God holding a huge, thick rope that was attached to a gigantic and strong hook -- that was hooked to our car. God led us home!!!

I still remember, I started to wake up as I heard the familiar crunch of the gravel in our driveway. I sat up and looked -- still a thick fog -- but look!!! We were home!!! We were safe with God leading us home -- and now we were safe at home!!!

The trip was hard. But God led us and filled us with His peace!!! The trip took longer than usual -- almost 6 hours -- but God led us all the way and brought us home!!! We all had each other -- praying -- and God filled us with His peace!!!

When we are going through rough times -- when life happens -- God is still on the throne!!! Trust Him and His leading. Rest in His care!!! Let Him carry you!!! When you feel you are falling or struggling -- let God catch you. He cares so much for you!!!

"I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy!!! No shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened!!! He saved me from all my troubles. The Lord hears His people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted!!! He rescues those whose spirits are crushed." (Psalm 34:4-6, 17, 18 NLT)

When life happens -- and the fog is so thick you cannot see ahead -- trust God to lead you. Trust God to carry you. It may take longer -- but with God you will get through this!!! With God leading you and guiding you -- He will fill you with His awesome peace. Even if you don't feel it -- it will come in God's perfect timing and way!!! God is faithful!!! Shout Now!!! :)
